Hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I had the best one of the year so far by far...

Last Thursday, Scott Kramer (my mechanic) and I left for Quebec Canada to attend the 2nd Supermoto X Fest which I was invited to by the promoter. The promoter Franck got me in touch with the owner of  H Gregoire Yamaha, an Quebec Yamaha dealership and we worked out a deal where I was going to ride there brand new 2008 YZF 450.

When we showed up Saturday morning at the track, that was in the middle of beautiful mountains I started to look for Louis Desourdy the owner of the dealership and the bike, and since I had no cell service I couldnt call to ask where he was pitted. I looked around the main pit area and I couldnt find a Yamaha with Louis' number 171 on it. So I started walking towards the track and I saw a huge Yamaha lounge area with display bikes and there was the 171 bike and a crew of people. I walked over and asked for Louis and he jumped up and said hello and from there it was like I was part of the family. I couldnt believe how nice everyone was...  They had a trailer with 4 Supermoto 450s; mine brand new, 2 ATVs for the ATV classes, new tires, it was like a factory ride!

We through on my RG3 suspension, through in a slipper clutch, the bike had wheels and beringer brakes and that was it. And from there I hit the track, which is one of the nicest and funniest tracks I have been on... The dirt section was sandy, fast, and wide and was like nothing I ridden before.

Later that night after the practice day, we watched the pit bike race, be we started to have a little fun with the teams Yamaha  Rhino! After we got a few huge wheelies in a 1000 pound Rhino, we started a camp fire and they started to cook dinner. It was the best dinner I have ever had at a track and maybe the best one ever!

The next morning, race day, I felt good and ready to do some damage. We lined up for the Open Pro main event which I lined up third because in the heat the clutch cable broke when I was leading by 15 seconds and I killed the motor in the dirt section... As we came around for the 2nd lap the red flag was out and it started to lighting and rain. Everyone went back to the pits and started to mount rain tires, we had 6 or 7 people including myself getting the bike ready, it was a team effort!!!

When the restart begin the number 1 canadian rider and I hit the dirt section 1 and 2 and after we got out there was no one else behind us. A rider crashed super hard in the really wet dirt section and was taken to the hospital... On the 3rd restart I got the whole shot and never looked back, I won by over 15 seconds, Canadas #1 rider Max finished 2nd and Peter #6 finished 3rd...

Winning the Open Pro main ment I quailfied to race the Prestige final where they took the top 3 from every class and raced for $1000.. But they put the fastest riders in the back and the slowest in the front. I saw a great opening between two riders and by the 1st turn I some how was leading it. I again checked out and won by a huge margin as Max crashed trying to stay with me.

I also won the Beriner Sponsored Bike Drifting Contest. We all got 3 trys to impress the crowd, how were the jugdes of the contest. The first try I ran it in a little to hard and want off the track, the second and the winning one, I ran it into the turn looked over at the H Gregoire crew on the Rhino and then backed it in dirt track style and right in the middle of the turn I hit the throttle and started to really "drift " it out of the turn, laying rubber around the whole turn!!! I could hear the crowd over my engine!

It was just on of the best weekends I had in a long time, and it is every motivating  going to the 2nd round of the XTRM/AMA Supermoto Series in two weeks!!!
